What We Believe

Statement of Belief

The convictions that anchor everything we preach, teach, and live at The New.

01The Creator

At The New, we believe Yah — also rendered Yahweh — is the Creator of all that exists.

Yah is the personal, covenant name of God revealed in Scripture. It is the shortened, poetic form of Yahweh, the name the Almighty gave to Moses at the burning bush: “I AM that I AM” (Exodus 3:14). We find Yah preserved in worship itself — it is the Yah in Hallelu-Yah, “Praise Yah” — and declared by name in Psalm 68:4: “Extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name JAH.” We use this name not as formality, but to honor the Creator as He has made Himself known — personal, eternal, and worthy of all praise.

02The Image and the Garden

We believe humanity was created in the image of God, set in a perfect environment marked by the Creator's presence.

03The Fall

We believe humanity was separated from the righteousness of God through the actions of the first Adam in the garden. By that act of disobedience, mankind fell from the righteousness of God.

04The Promised Messiah

We believe the Almighty Father's perfect method of restoring mankind was through His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ (Yahushua). The name Yahushua means “Yah is salvation” — the very name of the Father carried into the Son who came to save. As the promised Messiah, He came for all who will believe.

05The Cross

We believe that through His life on the earth and His crucifixion on Calvary's cross, our debt to sin was paid in full, and righteousness is restored to all who receive Him as the Son of God.

06The Resurrection

We believe that by the power of Jesus Christ's resurrection from the grave, death was defeated and victory was secured for every believer.

07Righteousness Restored

We believe, by faith, that righteousness has been restored to humanity through the power of a resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the living God.

08The Promised Helper

We believe that because death has been defeated and righteousness restored, the way was made for the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to be imparted to every believer. Christ promised to send “the Helper” from the Father — and He did, by way of the Holy Spirit.

09The Trinity

Having received the identity of the Father, the love of the Son, and the power of the Holy Spirit, we believe, preach, and live the unity of the Godhead, also known as the Trinity.

10Eternal Salvation

We believe that at the end of life we are saved by the grace of the Father through Jesus Christ — the only way to be saved, and to live eternally with the Father.

11The Kingdom

While we yet live on the earth and strive to learn the will of the Father, we believe His will is revealed in the teachings of Jesus on “the Kingdom.” As He demonstrated the culture of the Kingdom on earth, we believe the same is to be lived out by every believer.

12Gifts of the Spirit

We believe that, having restored righteousness and sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit imparts gifts to common men that release supernatural power. These gifts — wisdom, knowledge, faith, and healing among them — are listed by the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11.

13The Fivefold Offices

Finally, we believe that Jesus Himself gave gifts “to some,” named in Ephesians 4:11 — apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists. We honor these offices for the edification of the body of Christ, until we all come into maturity.
